Ah….the weekend is just around the corner :) AND, this weekend brings the promise of some warmer weather!! Temps in the 40s will be like going on a vacation; 40 degrees is twice as warm as it’s been for far too long. So, in the spirit of warm weather, here’s a look with a soft and rich blue palette. Clear blue skies were my inspiration. All of these versatile items are great pieces to have in your Spring wardrobe.
While so many other personal style bloggers are lucky enough to be styling Spring outfits — because the Winter has finally given up and allowed Spring to push through — I’m still attempting to look chic in my piled-on layers since Winter continues to stand strong in New York :( This afternoon at work, my co-worker suddenly pronounced (with way too much enthusiasm if you ask me), “Oh look, it’s snowing.” Immediately, I let out the most depressing audible sigh ever. It’s snowing….again. Perhaps if there weren’t so much snow on the ground, you could see how beautiful this skirt is. Instead, it blends right in to the powdery hills behind me. Or…perhaps I set my ISO a little too high (okay, so it’s the latter — but it’s so much easier to blame the snow). Hope you’re all having a great week so far!
It’s still freezing cold here in New York! So I’m still layering up and when it comes time to get dressed for work in the morning, my eyes still seem to drift towards neutrals or rich, dark colors. Come on sunshine, inspire me to wear some color! Thank for stopping by :)
Happy Monday! I hope you all had a fantastic weekend :)
For today’s work wear inspiration, I’ve incorporated this classic trench that I styled for last’s week’s “weekend wear” look. I wanted to show how versatile a timeless trench can be — it’s definitely worth the investment. It can be worn both casually as well as with more formal looks. As for the rest of this look: if you’re a bit timid about mixing prints, pairing two textures is a great way to ease into the idea. Keeping one textured print small and on an accessory — like your heels — rather than on something larger like a jacket or sweater, is also a simple way of adding a little something extra to your look. With the rich colors and lace texture of this pencil skirt, in combination with these classic woven pumps, I wanted to keep the top simple with this neutral sweater, and as well with the jewelry. I added a little punch with a deep red lip color and nail color. Lastly, I’m loving all of Coach’s bags recently. I love the mini bag trend, and I think this little beauty is worth the investment.
